Unemployment is real and is affecting our social and culture orders. Technology is also bringing changes to effect the 4th Industrial revolution in all sectors. Innovation is the Specifically, the program aims to benefit the youth in accessing digitally enabled jobs by providing requisite tools, training and mentor-ship needed to earn an income.. In addition, the program provides citizens with opportunity to understand the global changes in work and business environment.
Over 10 million young people are currently unemployed and looking for work. Meanwhile, every day, hundreds of thousands of jobs are made available for freelancers through digital outsourcing marketplaces; this is known as the ‘on-demand’ economy. The Ajira Digital Program has recognized education and skilling as a key component in empowering our citizens to take advantage of digital work opportunities.
In 2017 to date , the Ministry conducted training to over 15,000 youths across the country. To touch the lives of many Kenyans in the rural areas, my ministry has been working with universities and TVETs to scale the implementation of the program to all the Counties, and other Institutions. So far training has been done in 27 universities and Ajira clubs are being formed. TVETs TOTs have been trained .All the 47 counties have received TOT trainers. Our global competitive advantage lies in skilling our citizens and especially the youth on the future work environment which is digitally enabled.
