Assessment Coordination and Administration
The office leads the institution in the planning, coordination, and quality assurance of all academic assessments, including:
- Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs)
- End-of-term evaluations (theory and practical)
- Summative assessments
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessments for skilled individuals seeking formal certification
These assessments are designed and implemented in accordance with national curriculum guidelines, institutional academic policies, and occupational standards as provided by bodies such as CDACC, KNEC, and NITA.
Learner-Centered Registration for Assessment
In line with the principles of Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET), the institution has adopted a seeded implementation model—wherein learners actively take charge of their learning journey.
Registration for assessments is individualized and performance-based. Learners initiate and manage their own assessment readiness, ensuring that learning is personalized, flexible, and responsive to real-world competency demands.
RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning)
The office coordinates and oversees all RPL processes, allowing candidates with prior skills and experience—especially from informal or non-formal settings—to undergo structured assessments for formal recognition.
This is in full alignment with the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) guidelines, which emphasize inclusivity and lifelong learning within the national qualifications framework.
Digital Transformation
To improve efficiency, transparency, and access to academic services, the office is spearheading digital transformation. These tools automate processes such as:
- Exam registration and scheduling
- Coursework mark processing
- Transcript and graduation list generation
- Assessment monitoring and reporting
This automation enables real-time tracking of assessment milestones while minimizing manual errors, thus supporting evidence-based academic decisions.
Results Management and Academic Progression
The office ensures the secure handling, verification, and release of academic results, including the computation of coursework and summative marks. It coordinates the generation of:
- Progression pass lists
- Referral and retake notices
- Graduation eligibility reports
Certification and Regulatory Alignment
The Office oversees the preparation of final graduation lists and facilitates the issuance of both institutional and external certificates. All certified programmes are mapped to the KNQA framework, ensuring their recognition within Kenya’s national qualifications ecosystem.
This guarantees that our trainees’ certifications are portable, credible, and aligned with global labour market demands.
