NNP Dispensary

The Nyeri National Polytechnic dispensary exists to offer holistic and patient-oriented health care through promotive, preventive, and curative services to our clients with observance to professional standards and medical code of ethics.

The NNP Dispensary exists as a Level II Outpatient clinic to provide quality health care to all students within the institution. The aspect of students’ health is guaranteed at all times to ensure efficient and effective learning for all students.

We are a dedicated team under the DEAN’S OFFICE to ensure Students’ Welfare.

Our objective or goal is to provide quality, affordable, timely, and accessible health care to NNP students. We are looking forward to making our clinic bigger and better as the polytechnic grows in order to offer more services as needed.

Outpatient Services

The Dispensary is run by two registered nurses, KRCHN, a male and a female, to meet the various students’ needs. We offer the following services at the dispensary;

  • Preventive services
  • Curative Services

General health check-ups

General health check-ups offered include:
  • Blood pressure measurement
  • Blood sugars
  • Weight taking
  • Height measurement
  • Calculation of BMI value

Promotive Healthcare

Offering promotive health care through continuous health education or talks for various ailments for example diabetes, hypertension, nutritional counselling, BMI taking Body Mass Index etc.

Pharmaceuticals Services

We have a well-stocked pharmacy for the treatment of common ailments or diseases.

Referrals & Emergencies

Efficient and effective referral of clients to other facilities for specialized treatment or care. The dispensary has a good network of communication with neighboring health facilities where patients are referred to. Handling and stabilization of emergency cases is done with utmost precision and care.

Statement on the Student Protest of 22nd May 2026 and Closure of the Institution

Yesterday, 22nd May 2026, a section of trainees at The Nyeri National Polytechnic staged a protest outside the institution's premises. The protest escalated to violence and disruption of the Polytechnic’s activities. It took several hours for the county security team to contain the situation.

The Governing Council, in consultation with the security team, has assessed the prevailing circumstances and resolved to close the Polytechnic with effect from today, 23rd May 2026, until further notice.

All trainees are directed to vacate the institution's premises, including the hostels, by 8:00 a.m. Saturday, 23rd May 2026.

The Council regrets the disruption this decision causes to trainees, staff, parents, and guardians, and thanks the institution's stakeholders for their patience and cooperation during this period.

All trainees, staff, parents, and members of the public are advised to take note of this directive and comply accordingly. Further communication regarding reopening and subsequent arrangements shall be issued through official institutional channels at the appropriate time.
