Achievement so far in the journey towards competency based education and training
The Nyeri National Polytechnic signed a memorandum of understanding with the County government of Kiambu and FIRETRACK Institution to address the skills gap in firefighting in the country. The MOU recognizes Nyeri National Polytechnic as the qualification awarding institution of choice for firefighting programs. Training occurs at the FIRETRACK but certification is from Nyeri National Polytechnic.

Food Technolgy Section
Food Technology Level 6
Food Technologist Certificate Level 6 qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to enable him/her to manage quality of food products, the food processing plant; process food products and develop new food products.
Food Technology Level 5
Food Technology Technician Certificate level 5 qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to enable him/her to effectively discharge food technology works and contributes towards meeting the food technology requirements.
Dairy Farm Management Level 4 & 5
Dairy Farm Management qualification level 4 consists of competencies that an individual must achieve to perform operations in a dairy farm. It entails constructing farm structures; producing dairy forage; formulating dairy animal feed; and breeding, feeding and milking dairy animals; rearing young stock; and maintaining dairy herd health.
Dairy Processing Level 4
The course is designed to equip an individual with competences for carrying out the supply of raw milk, processing raw milk into pasteurized and fermented products, performing cleaning and sanitization of the plant and equipment, carrying out quality assurance on raw and processed products, and packaging milk products.

Analytical Chemistry Level 6
This is where instruments and methods are used to separate, identify and quantify matter.
Science Laboratory Technologist Level 6
Science Laboratory Technologist level 6 qualification equips an individual with competences for applying standard laboratory practices in performing biological technics, physics technics and chemistry technics. These skills prepare individuals to effectively discharge science laboratory works in institutions of higher learning.
Science Laboratory Technician Level 5
Science Laboratory Technician Certificate level 5 qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to enable him/her to effectively discharge Science Laboratory works and contribute towards meeting the science laboratory requirements.
