The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department continues to play a pivotal role in driving innovation and digital transformation across the Polytechnic. In support of the Polytechnic’s broader mission, the ICT Department focuses on delivering reliable, secure, and scalable digital services. We maintain the core infrastructure that powers the institution while providing timely technical support to staff and students. Our goal is to foster a technology-driven environment that enables excellence in education, innovation, and service.
What we do
1. Software and Hardware Support
We are responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all software and hardware used across the college. Our team ensures that operating systems, productivity tools, antivirus programs, and other essential software are running efficiently on both staff and student machines. We also handle diagnostics and troubleshooting of hardware such as computers, printers, projectors, and network devices—minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth operations in all departments.
2. Online Portals Management
We manage and maintain the academic and administrative portals that students and staff rely on for daily tasks, including accessing timetables, exam results, course materials, registration services, and internal communication tools. We ensure these systems are secure, user-friendly, and regularly updated. In addition, we provide support for login issues, guide users on portal navigation, and implement upgrades to enhance overall functionality and performance.
3. Website Maintenance and Updates
We take pride in maintaining and regularly updating the college website. We ensure that all website content—including news, announcements, event details, admission information, academic calendars, and departmental pages—is accurate, up-to-date, and easy to navigate. We also conduct regular audits to fix broken links, improve loading speed, and refresh visual elements in line with the institution’s branding and accessibility standards.
4. Social Media Management
We manage the college’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, as part of our commitment to effective digital communication. We share timely content such as events, updates, notices, and achievements, helping to engage the college community and increase our online visibility. We also contribute to developing digital strategies that align with the institution’s public communication objectives.
5. Photography and Videography
We provide professional photography and videography services to document and promote important college events such as graduations, workshops, lectures, and student activities. Our team captures high-quality visuals and produces content suitable for use on social media, websites, internal displays, and official publications. We also handle editing and packaging of the media for archival and promotional use.
6. Graphic Design and Visual Content Creation
We design compelling visual content to support the college’s communication and branding initiatives. From posters and banners to brochures, newsletters, and social media graphics, we ensure all materials are visually appealing and consistent with the college’s brand identity. Our work helps deliver clear and engaging messages to our audiences.
7. Computer Labs Maintenance
We oversee the operation and maintenance of all computer laboratories within the college. We set up machines, install necessary educational software, and ensure strong network connectivity. Our team conducts regular servicing of equipment and enforces cybersecurity practices to create a safe, efficient, and reliable digital learning environment for both students and lecturers.
8. Domain and Hosting Services Management
We manage the college’s domain registration, renewal, and hosting services. This includes handling DNS configurations and ensuring all web-based services—including websites, intranet platforms, and mail servers—are operational and secure. We also implement vital cybersecurity tools such as SSL certificates and firewalls to safeguard institutional data and maintain online integrity.
9. Email and Communication Support
We provide full support for the college’s official email systems, assisting both staff and students in setting up, managing, and troubleshooting their institutional email accounts. We also manage email storage, spam protection, and security settings to ensure reliable and safe communication across the institution.
10. Internet Provision and Wi-Fi Access
We are committed to providing reliable internet access throughout the Polytechnic. Our team manages the campus-wide network infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity for both staff and students. We maintain and monitor free Wi-Fi hotspots across classrooms, offices, computer labs, libraries, and common areas, enabling access to online learning resources, research materials, communication tools, and digital platforms. Through regular upgrades and troubleshooting, we strive to offer a secure, fast, and consistent internet experience that supports academic and administrative activities.
